About
Lacrosse is historically a spring sport and as such this is when we compete!
We play our Spring season games against other clubs belonging to NVYLL. There is a girls league and a boys league, broken up into age groups from Kindergarten to 8th grade. Almost all age groups, boys and girls, consisting of two ages or grades.
Boys' League:
The Boys’ league employs a strict age-based system where the cutoff is determined by August 1st of the previous year. The divisions include 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U. "8U" means the player was under 8 as of August 1st of the previous year. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Girls' League:
The Girls’ league is based on a school grade level system. The girls’ divisions are GK2 (kindergarten, first and second grade), G34, G56, G78.
Within each age-group for boys or grade level-group for girls, there are divisions according to skill (except at the lowest ages - Boys 6U and Girls GK2 - there is just one level.) Most divisions have the concept of a beginner level, intermediate level, and an experienced level.
The number of players affects which divisions we enter our players in each year. Some years there may be only one team per age/grade level. We may only have an experienced and beginner team depending on the total number of players and their experience level. Our commissioners and coaches work diligently to ensure that all of our players have an enjoyable season regardless of the level at which they play.
The official start to the spring season is late March and runs for approximately ten weeks. Player evaluations and group practices may begin as early as January. There are eight regular season games and one or more playoff games with the exception of 6U, 8U, and GK2. These age groups typically have a fun play day with another organization at the end of their seasons.
With some exceptions boys play on Saturdays and girls play on Sundays. Practices are generally twice a week at Hampshire Park or other local fields.
